Seven Natural Wonders

Myself, with friends Clare and Nicola at the Grand Canyon in 2009

I stumbled upon this website today about the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Worth a little look as it showcases some incredible information and useful factoids if you’d like to see some of te wonders for yourself. These include inside tips about where to go and stay, as well as photographic tips about where it has been recommended to go in order to get the best shot.

Also, I’d never heard of Paricutin before reading this and it turns out it’s natural wonder number 3 on the list!

There are also several other lists which offer more wonders per continent.

As of right now (3/1/13) I have seen only one of these world wonders with my own eyes, but with a bit of luck after my trip to within the Arctic Circle in three weeks time, I will have added the Aurora Borealis to my list.

Next stop, Rio 🙂

Walking On Air

This is a beautiful video filmed by astronauts onboard the International Space Station of our amazing planet. How lucky they are to get a first hand view like this, one that only a very small minority of us will ever get to see. It might be a little cliched, but when you see the Earth from this view doesn’t it make you wonder why there are so many people fighting over such silly things? It also makes me want to take better care of our planet. Maybe more people will get the chance to see this view when Richard Branson’s space tourism flights begin. Maybe he’ll have a cheap return ticket Ryanair-style?!

TRON Dance

Very clever dance routine using ‘TRON’ suits. I wonder how the Macarena would look using these suits?! There’s almost a bullet-time effect in parts of this video.

Prague’s Astronomical Clock

The Astronomical Clock in Prague’s town square just celebrated it’s pretty amazing 600th anniversary. I visited Prague last February and my friend described the feature as ‘The Big Gay Clock’. Well look at the big queen showing off for its 600th birthday right here.

Loving the commentary at the beginning of this albeit long video, where the guy says “That was an anti-climax!” only to have his eyes melted by a fantastic projected light show. Watch now please!
