Lucky Escape!

I don’t know why this driver felt the need to film his car journey along a busy motor-way in Canada, but he captured an incredible crash involving a lorry, the central reservation and thankfully nobody else. His calm and quick reactions are no doubt the reason he is still alive. My ‘favourite’ part of this clip though is not the death-defying stunt itself. It’s the way the guy replies to his wife when she asks “Are you okay?”

“YES!”

Earth & Our Solar System

A video of what some of our neighbouring planets would look like if they were as close to us as the moon. Amazing stuff! I always thought Mars was a lot bigger and yet Jupiter is insanely beyond what I thought it was. The solar system is fascinating and something I love to learn about. For recommendation, watch Wonders of the Solar System by the BBC if you can. It’s amazing and very informative in a digestible way.

Love – Trailer

This film looks like it might be amazing!

As trailers go, this left me feeling optimistic and enthralled… I hope the film lives up to its  promise.

IMDb Synopsis:

After losing contact with Earth, Astronaut LeeMiller becomes stranded in orbit alone aboard the International Space Station. As time passes and life support systems dwindle, Lee battles to maintain his sanity – and simply stay alive. His world is a claustrophobic and lonely existence, until he makes a strange discovery aboard the ship.

New York Timelapse

This is a remarkable work of art. The hours and effort that must have went in to create this New York City time-lapse leave me in awe. It captures the essence of such a frenetic city so well and the choice of song works brilliantly too. Brings back lots of great memories from holidays past. What an amazing city!

Shanghai Then & Now

Excuse my ignorance, but when I glanced at this before and after photo of Shanghai, I thought it was 1900 and 2010. No! It’s 1990 and 2010! What a difference twenty years makes. I find it astonishing how a landscape can change so much when you see the similar skylines of New York and London change with (relatively) no difference over five years, or even ten years – bar 9/11 changing lower Manhattan. I travelled to Hong Kong in 2007 and was astonished at the land reclamation they had achieved in a few decades. The world is changing far more quickly than many of us realise. Maps are being redrawn and entire cities/countries are changing. What an amazing feat of engineering! Hopefully natural will not admonish to this achievement in physical versus natural beauty.

Battle: Los Angeles

The trailers so far for this sure to be blockbuster have been slowly building momentum, teasing more and more of the good stuff over the past few months. This last trailer seems to indicate a nice mix of Cloverfield, Aliens and District 9. All these should bring to the mix a great disaster, alien, popcorn flick, although I’m hoping for a stand out, new ground flick nonetheless with a touch of its own something to make it stand out.

Puppy Talk

If you were ‘Ummin and Ahhing’ about getting a puppy for Christmas and eventually decided against it, this may sway your decision. This might be the cutest puppy I have ever seen and the little’n wants us to it too. Remember though, a puppy is for life not just for Christmas, but if they’re as cute as this fella who could possibly give them up?!?
